I’m Paul Hopkins, Piano Tuner. With over 30 Years’ experience including: Working for bluthner Pianos; Symphony Hall; National Indoor Arena plus tuning for many internationally acclaimed musicians.
I am a fully qualified piano tuner with an AEWVH Diploma in piano tuning which I obtained in 1988 after completing a three-year course at the Royal National College for the Blind. I am a full member of the Association of Blind Piano Tuners; Have Public Liability Insurance and am Disclosure and Barring Service vetted.
I worked for Bluthner Pianos in London for two years where I had the opportunity to perfect my craft on some of the world’s finest pianos. I then moved to Birmingham and commenced work for Ladbroke Pianos. Ladbroke Pianos once enjoyed a close association with John Broadwood & Sons, the oldest established piano maker in the world. During my tenure, the firms jointly developed a new “barless” upright piano which was unveiled by former CBSO leader Sir Simon Rattle. As lead piano tuner, I had the pleasure of working with all major concert venues in and around Birmingham and the Midlands including: Symphony Hall; The National Indoor Arena; The International Convention Centre; The Hippodrome, Alexander and Repertory theatres; The Midlands Art Centre and many more.
While at Ladbrooke Pianos, I became the resident piano tuner for Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in Birmingham which was a franchise of the original Ronnie Scott’s in London. I worked for Ronnie Scotts in Birmingham for the 10 years it operated in the city.
I have worked with numerous performers and musicians including: Tony Hadley; Shakatak; Hue and Cry; Brian Kennedy; The Christians; China Crisis and of course, the late Ronnie Scot Himself.
I am a musician and love the sound of a finely tuned piano to play on. Get in touch with me via the contact page to have your home, school, church, bar/pub, hotel, theatre, concert hall resonating To the Tune of Pianos.
